Ella was most definitely Brittany’s daughter. Only Brittany and Ella could tug on his heart strings so simply. He offered a small wave back at the little girl who had so many things similar to him. All but the color of her eyes. The bright blue that shined every time his little girl smiled. And he was slowly getting used to that. His little girl. Well, his other little girl. Mike watched as Ella instructed Brittany where her monsters were located, and the blonde woman go from the closet, to under her bed, to finally a drawer. It was amusing to say the least. It made him think of how Adler would cry out in the middle of the night that something was moving under his bed. The smile Brittany flashed him, made his heart skip a beat and he cursed under his breath when it did. Watching Brittany like this, be a great mother to Ella made him sad but yet so proud. He could really see how much Brittany’s changed, how much’s she’s grown from that silly teenage girl that danced with him in empty classrooms on occasion, to this beautiful woman who cared and nurtured an even more beautiful little girl. “Night Ella.” He said softly as the little girl in her small bed wished him good night. His heart seemed to beat in pain at the sight.
As Brittany approached him he forced a smile on his face and shook his head. “No. No. It’s not a problem.” He paused and looked back into the room, looking at his sleeping daughter. “Any excuse to see Ella, really.” He said with a smile more sincere than before. He followed her down the stairs, slipped his shoes back on as she waved goodbye to her sister. He opened up his umbrella once more and stepped under it looking to Brittany with a smile. “Let’s head out.” He said offering his arm to her and a gentlemanly smile.
brittany was defintiely not the same girl from high school. she had her same naive tendencies and her dumb moments, because that was brittany. she had done a lot of growing up. learning how to do for herself and learning how to raise a child. it had been hard, extremely difficult. thank the lord her mother had come out to help her for awhile and that quinn was also in l.a. she had depended on them for help, but she had done it herself. britt would bet people were saying she couldn’t last in los angeles, that she never could raise a baby. especially people from lime who often treated her like she was five. if they jsut let her grow up and make her own mistakes she would have been fine. she turned out fine, she had survived out there. she had done a damn good job raising ella, that little girl was amazing. she had worked hard to be where she was. even if her mom was really sick and she had a baby with her best friends husband, she was happy with where life had taken her. “she was happy to see you.” brittany smiled softly at him. she could just tell by the way ella’s eyes had been glancing to the door while brittany did her monster hunt. ella could not stop talking about that day at the park and how cool delly and addie’s dad was. brittany couldn’t have been happier with ella’s reaction to mike. after saying goodnight to katie also they made thier way to the front doot. brittany opened it and instantly after mike opened the umbrella stepping beneath it. britt smiled and nodded her head at him. linking her arm with his as she stood beneath it also. they made their way out into the pouring rain, brittany shutting the front door as soon as they left the doorframe. and they walked over to mike’s car.
